The Washington Post ACCESSIBILITY

THE CHALLENGE

Improving Visual Layout and Accessible Content.

It’s well known that most younger people get their news from social media and don’t like to spend money on news outlets. Most news apps have a paywall to access content which prevents user engagement. Although the Washington Post is one of the top news publications in the U.S., its popularity among the Gen Z audience is not as strong.

WHAT WAS DONE.

As part of a project initiative, I was tasked with conducting a company site analysis of the Washington Post to pin-point opportunities to attract the Gen Z demographic. Through comprehensive research including Heuristics, Digital Ethnography, Comp Analysis, Polling, Surveys, and In-Depth Interviews, I idenitified areas of opportunity to enhance user navigation.

THE RESULT.

Incorporated Video Integration for a captivating experience and provided flexible options for accessible content. As most news apps have a paywall to access content, incorporating a Free Option with AD’s or Daily Rate could attract new users and possibly attain potential subscribers..
